After a severe accident and while in the hospital, I was inspired by my youngest daughter to create a children's magnetic coloring board aquarium when she’d cut out paper fish shapes, color them and tape them to the wall at the hospital telling me that aquariums are relaxing. She made a small aquarium on the wall in front of my hospital bed. This inspired me to work on making something special for pediatric burn patients once released from the hospital. This art project expanded as a two-sided framed metal board aquarium with a land/sky scene opposite side. One side for flat fish shaped magnets and the other side for birds shaped magnets. Each set comes with ready-to-color flat fish and bird shaped magnets with crayons/markers inside a small backpack. I now make these only by request from hospitals for children admitted and being treated for severe burns. Since my accident with fire, I've met many other survivors and have found that adult burn survivors need encouragement. To better serve the adults, I have been creating artwork connected to encouraging messages engraved on the frame of the artwork. I have been sending these paintings to hospital burn centers nationally hoping that the messages engraved on each painting will encourage others going through the difficult healing process. Some recent artwork is 3D intended to be touched. Although this artwork is centered around helping the visually impaired read braille, everyone can enjoy touching and viewing my 3D artwork. Burn survivors heal faster when medical professionals encourage their patients to tap into their healthy passions and then use those passions to help others. It is in helping others where I have found "The True Healing Power" and hope that others will support these efforts and endeavors of everyone they encounter who are trying to help others.
